The gorge of Gorroppu is a deep canyon located in the Supramonte and marks the border between the towns of Orgosolo and Urzulei. The gorge originated due to the intense erosive action of the Rio Flumineddu waters. Gorge Gorropu, with its more than 500 m in height and a width that varies from a few dozen to 4 meters, is considered one of the deepest canyon in Europe.
The canyon can be reached walking a hiking path (the path Sedda ar Baccas – Gorropu B-502). The proper equipment is required. The trail extends for a length of 12 km, overcoming a gradient of 200 meters, until you reach the gorge of Gorropu, on the bottom of which flows the Rio Flumineddu. The travel time is three hours.
